One of my favorite "war stories" from the data center involved a small company I worked for many years ago. We had a cabinet-size UPS come up for maintenance, and as it was an aging unit my boss asked the tech to perform a thorough inspection and perform any maintenance that appeared to be required. Once complete, my boss asked him to perform a functional test. The tech agreed, but mentioned it would cost the company extra. My boss agreed to the terms and the tech wandered off to the...
