Xubuntu 11.04 and contact management (2)

Today I'm following up on my post from yesterday. So far, I have been unable to see any advantage of a standalone contact management client, such as Contacts, Rubrica and KAddressBook. The latter would be the right thing to use in a KDE-environment. Of course, if you click on an e-mail address within one of these address books, you will fire up your primary mail client. But the idea is to be able to use the addresses from within the mail client.

My mail client of choice being Thunderbird,...

Probably you've already been in this situation or will be sometime in your life. You want to get your digital life organized. No redundancies, just one solution to every problem.

That's what I'm in the process of doing and here's a list of the things I want to achieve:
  • Not forget any birthday any more
  • Have a central place for storage of all contact information
  • Be able to print out said contact information
  • Take advantage of the services in the cloud without losing that
