openSUSE

As I mentioned in the post before this one, I'm looking to install openSUSE on my test box when it's new hard drive arrives.
In the meantime, I've been playing with it as a Virtualbox guest... Initially, during the install, I was a little unimpressed and started to wonder if I might have to try an alternative distro. However, first impressions aren't always accurate. I'm currently very impressed!
The install I performed was on a standard 8GB virtual disk. I rather optimistically/foolishly only gave root 3GB... This 'decision' came back to haunt me when I decided to give upgrading from 11.3 to 11.4 using a howtoforge guide a go. The guide in itself was pretty good. The only adaptation I had to make was to add the 11.4 LXDE repository. So, I set the upgrade running and then started to wonder if I had enough free disk space... The answer was 'No'.
The impressive bit is despite my probably rather risky attempts (Including a reboot while still 1/2 way between 11.3 and 11.4!) to complete the upgrade while free space hovered at 0%, zypper came through and I ended up with an upgraded, working system which I'm posting this from! Based on that, I'm sure me and my openSUSE test box will be very happy! :-D
