IIGC

Posted 04-05-2006 at 07:14 PM by unSpawn

Came up with a new FLA (Four Letter Acronym): IIGC, for "If I Googled Correctly".
Implying rudimentary coordination between searchengine-fu and knowledge-fu is present.

Another Computer goes Dapper

Posted 04-05-2006 at 12:52 AM by Freemor

Well... Yesterday I upgraded my wife's computer to Dapper (since it is so stable and all) and after some minor fussing about with the flash plugin (seems it and the adblock extension don't get along anymore) she was up and running. She is using an old 850mhz AMD Duron but the speed improvments were still quite evident.. possibly even moreso then on my computer (which is by no means a screamer).

Today while checking things out got both good and bad news the remote control now works...

Well I'm taking my CCNA prep class. I know a lot of people (myself included) used to think that certifications were kind of a joke and that real world experience counts even more. But with the job market the way it is for me (Automotive, US) you have to have something that helps sets you apart from the other thousands of resumes.

I enjoy Linux, I enjoy learning and I hope that Linux will one day get to the point where Microsoft is now. I slowly see that happening as I've just deployed...

Installing Slackware and the "Not There File System" (NTFS)

Posted 04-04-2006 at 04:02 AM by Yethic

As I stated in the last blog entry, I downloaded slackware and burnt it to disk.

It is about this time that I should point out that my harddrive was a NTFS partition
i.e. Not resizeable by linux (or even readable unless you have the kernel modules installed)

I had much important data on my harddrive and had already burnt 700+ CD's worth off.But I wanted dual boot so I spent another week getting what seemed like some reliable programs to re-partition my disk before...
