A Rude Surprise

Posted 01-06-2007 at 11:15 PM by Oblivia

OK, so I got Ubuntu installed and slowly running (slowly, until the replacement RAM comes in. I hope.) so the next step should be to install stuff I want to run on it, right? I downloaded a bunch of such installation files from work and put them on CDs to load up at home. So, where am I now? One of my New Years resolutions is to get smarter about this computer stuff. I inherited a cast-off PC from work that has a really old version of Windows on it -- nobody knows of any logins or passwords so I'm starting...

Posted 01-04-2007 at 06:43 AM by sridhar11

Media Access Control address, a hardware address that uniquely identifies each node of a network. In IEEE 802 networks, the Data Link Control (DLC) layer of the OSI Reference Model is divided into two sublayers: the Logical Link Control (LLC) layer and the Media Access Control (MAC) layer. The MAC layer interfaces directly with the network medium.Consequently, each different type of network medium requires a different MAC layer. On networks that do not conform to the IEEE 802 standards but do conform...
