LFS (Linux From Scratch) for people new to Linux

Posted 05-01-2006 at 01:53 AM by threekgtvr4

Here is my first blog on this forum. Since I have been enjoying this site since I found it, I figured "might as well"... This blog will show the fun and headaches in building a Linux From Scratch (LFS) system from the eyes of someone who is VERY new to Linux.

Since this blog is being written as I learn, the "teachings" may jump around from time to time. Eventually this "tutorial" will be posted to the Do It Yourself portion of my site, and will be more...

Ethernet Bonding Configuration

Posted 04-25-2006 at 12:36 PM by sridhar11

Ethernet bonding refers to aggregating multiple ethernet channels together to form a single channel. This is primarily used for redundancy in ethernet paths or for load balancing. This page refers in particular to performing ethernet bonding under linux, and so does not limit itself to discussion of 802.3ad Trunk Aggregation.

rpmbuild source rpm's can be difficult at first.

Posted 04-24-2006 at 03:18 AM by qizzer

Building rpms from src is really fairly easy. The difficult part is getting set up to make them.
A good howto tutorial for Mandriva is at; http://qa.mandriva.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/RpmHowTo (note: the ugly box on the left has a stick pin on it. Be sure to stick it to the top of the page before reading.)
The first rpm may be quite difficult. You are bound to run into dependency problems. MesaGL, TK, tcl etc. etc. etc. These dependencies will become fewer and fewer with each src.rpm...
