Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hello all, I am new to Linux but not new to computers, I learn very quickly and just need some help getting started.
I have recently installed Ubuntu 7.1, I am dual booting it with xp. My problem is, after installing ubuntu (it was a clean easy install) I am not able to connect to my wireless, and my sound doesn't work.
I have been reading several different forums and have tried a couple simple things to no avail, ubuntu sees my wireless card and even detects wireless...
can someone help me with the installation of rpm package. I am familiar with some commands but still need help on where to put it. Big help would be to start with download and go through the steps. The rpm installed is missing components and I realized that I need to delete that before installing the new.
Thanks for any and all help.
