Drivers new to me

hi to all
im new to device driver.
iwrote simple device program that create chunk of memory and that act as a device.
my program opens the device and perform read write operation on that particular memory area.
now i want access the ports in my system .
so plz tell how to access that.......

i have problem in Linux distribution (distro)of red hat,i can't use dial up as i don't know how to install modem on this (distro) please suggest me the way so that i can run internet on my PC with this distro.

I HAVE BROUGHT A NEW LAPTOP ACER aspire 4250 I INSTALLED RED HAT RHEL4

I AM NOT GETING LAN CARD DRIVERS i.e NVIDIA NFORCE LAN DRIVERS, CAN ANY BODY HELP ME
