going more bald

day two of the search for a solution to no visualizations on amarok. i am running fedora 7 gnome and for the life of me i can't get the visualizations to work and though it seems a fairly common problem none of the solutions seem to work for me.

My first Tar.gz Software Install

I have been using Fedora for nearly two years now. In that time I have installed software with RPM Packages, Shell Scripts, and Packages*. Today I am proud to say I can add Tar.gz Archives to my list. Thanks to the help of the FedoraFroum post http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=93025 I have successfully installed the newest version of Cube. If you need help installing Cube, feel free to look at the Link.

How to run Windows Streaming/Videos in Firefox in SUSE (or in other linux)

1. yum install MPlayer

2. Install these two

Binary RPMs: mplayerplug-in-3.45-fc6.i386.rpm
mplayerplug-in Mozilla Extension:
This Extension converts OBJECT tags to EMBED tags for sites that only support IE. mplayerplug-in-0.4.xpi

3. As root, copy mplayerplug-in.so into the plugins directory for firefox as well as /usr/lib/browser-plugins.

WARNING to users of the ATI Radeon 7000 Video Card

On my Fedora 7 computer, I have a Radeon 7000 Video Card from ATI. Since dropping Windows last spring, I have been trying to get my favourite games to work on Linux. Some of these Games Doom 3 and Quake 4. When I try to run the Linux port of Doom 3, every thing seems fine until:

WARNING: vertex array range in virtual memory (SLOW)
signal caught: Segmentation fault
si_code 1
Trying to exit gracefully..
Shutting down sound hardware
----------- Alsa...
