Back to my old computer...

Posted 03-20-2007 at 11:01 AM by serafean

Well, I got my hands on my old computer, and Gentoo was still installed.a little emerge --sync, and DB was updated, then a little emerge -u world and no computer for 3 days. but passed from gnome 2.14 to gnome 2.16, and many other upgrades.
After a bit of troubleshooting, its working like charm again.

A little more tweaking, and Beryl is here!!!! Those raindrops are really funny, and the wiper, LOL.

Later, having gone up 'round the bend...

Stuck w/ FC5 for about 10 months. I like it very much. I've recently installed Mandriva 2007 Free and I believe that I will likely "convert" to using Mandriva, a turn away from Fedora Core. Time will tell. I'm currently dealing with the /home/*/public_html issue (the lack of a default apache-mod_userdir seems a bit odd...). My first thought is that perhaps Mandriva isn't meant to be as "serious" / Pro a distribution as Fedora, in which case i may not choose to switch. I suppose...

fedora 6 booting problems

Posted 03-14-2007 at 09:38 PM by bcambo

I just installed fedora core 6 on a second hd (80 gb). I get an error message telling me "error loading operating system" with a blinking cursor. This happened just after I re-booted after I finished loading the OS. Did I make a mistake loading Linux onto only it's own hard drive? I have Windows XP with 109 Gb free on my first hard drive. I planned on having a dual-boot system and change out the hard drive and OS in my BIOS settings? Is this the best way to use two hard drives?
