The chapter that deals with setting up the kernel (Linux-x.y.x) is too limited in my opinion. I do realise that my extension is out-of-scope for the LFS developers, but I do think that many will benefit from it, especially if you want to tinker with kernels and their settings.

How I would like to enhance iptables

Posted 12-04-2012 at 04:44 PM by Skaperen

There are cases where I want to change the iptables rapdily and reliably. But these cases don't really change any rule order. They only change just the IP addresses of a rule (or gang of rules).

Here's my idea. Designate some IP addresses for this special purpose, such as 0.1.X.Y where X.Y represents 65536 possible address objects. The address objects are stored in the kernel with a means for root or designated users to access them. There would be a /proc entry for this, with...

Xfce 4.10 and Mageia 2

Posted 12-04-2012 at 04:36 AM by nigelc

I used to like the gnome desktop, but not after gnome 3
Xfce seemed to be what gnome used to be, however it had bugs:
segfault on several programs. Desktops disappearing etc.
A few days ago some updates for xfce arrived and now it's purrfect.
On the bottom taskbar it has a blue flashing thing to show which task running.
The right mouse button works better.
It now 2 logins the gnome & the xfce.
how I remove the gnome login?

I have a problem and have been thinking about it since Yesterday. This is a bit long I'm sorry but only way I can make it make any sense. I live in NYC and while I like the City we do have a % of Crazy People walking around. Anyhow, Yesterday, I work part at home and wanted to go outside in the evening hours. So while I'm outside I decide to go to my Local Chinese Store and well order obviously Chinese Food. Since I thought that I wanted to breath some fresh(yes I know) cold air outside. I have...

Posted 11-30-2012 at 05:13 AM by routers

need to have 2 file chmod 755
1) bakzone.sh <- use to backup
2) restzone.sh <- use to restore (verify line ZDIR )

the zone must be shutdown before run backup
take a look at the path in the scripts to suite the need. for me, all my zone in /export/zones/
so i place this 2 scripts in this folder , work perfectly

usage:
Code:
root@sol-11:/export/zones# ls
bakzone.sh restzone.sh
