So Much for Ubuntu

Well - that was kinda disappointing. I got loads of good advice about how to install new stuff onto an Ubuntu system (thanks to one and all!) but none of it seemed to work for me: the 'alien' program wasn't there so I burned a CD with the right Ubuntu package ("Edgy"?). I played around with the Package Manager thing and was able to read the CD from it. When I tried to install all the things I wanted, it complained that I wasn't connected to the Internet! Where is the XFCE 4.4 welcoming party?

Wow, I must say that for a major update/upgrade, XFCE 4.4 has not really gotten that much fanfare in the forums. Maybe is because most people were downloading CVS versions up to the final code and are not all that impressed. Myself I like to wait for the final code to be released. I'm very excited about the new features in XFCE 4.4. Now I just need the *buntu keepers for make the 4.4 version available in the repositories.
