How to mount or use Olympus W-10 in Ubuntu?

Posted 05-21-2007 at 12:25 AM by striderdagreat

I have an Olympus W-10 Digital Voice Recorder. I want to hook it up in Ubuntu. In Windows it required its own software and never showed up as a flash drive even though it was connected via USB. I can't seem to mount it in Ubuntu. Please help.

Why RPM Repositorys are the Future of Linux

Posted 05-18-2007 at 12:16 PM by Chargh

Most of the Programs I have installed that did not come with my Installation (I run Fedora Core 4, going to Upgrade to 7 when it is released :D) came from the Fedora Extras Repository. There I installed with out any problems. I installed Quake III Arena fine from a RPM, I bet it was because I had already installed all the dependencies because I installed Nexuiz, from the Fedora Extras repository using Yumex. Now I am trying to get Quake II. I am still dependencies Hell. So this is why I say RPM...

It is an honor to work with such operating system, worthy of all the attention it gets. I've been studying and familiarizing the Linux environment for a month. And I have no regrets whatsoever of indulging my time to it. I was once a puny with no passion or advocacy to any software culture or lifestyle. Getting Fedora to play mp3's in XMMS

Posted 05-17-2007 at 02:14 PM by Chargh

When I starting using Linux I was confused by the fact that I could not play sounds in the mp3 format. I could play Wavs and Ogg Vorbis Files but not mp3. I found the answer to this question in a Book about Fedora Core 2. Red Hat and Fedora do not support the mp3 format because of patent issues. But there is a Simple way to add mp3 support back to one of the best multimedia players there is, XMMS. Simply download the RPM from this website, and install...

Well, we're off with Suse

Posted 05-17-2007 at 02:24 AM by nmsuaussie

So I have a pretty nice laptop, 100 GB SATA drive, Core 2 Duo processors, 2 GB RAM, not the be all and end all, but nothing to sneeze at either. I just installed Opensuse 10.2 on a partition on it tonight. My main partition is still windows, but that's because most of my classes use windows. Anyway, hope I can get the wireless card to work. It's not wanting to connect right now. I posted a thread in the Newbies section, cause that's basically what I am. Anywho, let's see what I can do with it.
