Create and Extract .gz,.bz2 Files in Debian

Posted 06-20-2007 at 07:57 AM by sridhar11

bzip2 and bunzip2 are file compression and decompression utilities. The bzip2 and bunzip2 utilities are newer than
gzip and gunzip and are not as common yet, but they are rapidly gaining popularity. The bzip2 utility is capable of
greater compression ratios than gzip. Therefore, a bzip2 file can be 10-20% smaller than a gzip version of the same
file. Usually, files that have been compressed by bzip2 will have a .bz2 extension.

From WikipediaŽ, the free encyclopedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastebin

"A pastebin, also known as a nopaste, is a web application which allows its users to upload snippets of text, usually samples of source code, for public viewing. It is very popular in IRC channels where pasting large texts is considered bad etiquette."

KnoppMyth R5F1

Posted 06-18-2007 at 07:21 AM by Caysho

I did a fresh install of KnoppMyth, and I'd forgotten how to do the sound setup for an external amplifier.
Putting it here for my records.

run alsamixer (probably as root)
Find "IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA" and set it to zero.

Then go into the General sound setup.
I have:
Audio output device - /dev/adsp
Passthrough output device - ALSA:lec958:{AES0 0x02}
Enable AC3 to SPDIF passthrough - ticked
Enable DTS to SPDIF...

New project

Posted 06-16-2007 at 11:58 PM by cyb0rg777

I'm starting a new programming project. Most of my projects are always a work in progress .I've got a bunch i'm stuck on.A game, a diagnostics program, some electronic circuits I've had on the drawing board for years. This is a program about work in progress. I sort of got into a flame about how some people go around the web telling people their ideas won't work. Sometimes this is a good thing except when the only obstacle to completing the idea is motivation. If you don't want to help ,don't help....
