CruxEX 2014 (CRUX 3.0) Live USB with LXDE and kernel 3.12.6!

Posted 01-09-2014 at 04:24 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)

CruxEX 3.0 2014 64bit Linux Live USB is based on CRUX 3.0 (latest version, released 130119), which is all Linux enthusiasts/nerds favorite OS. (CRUX 3.0 is a lightweight Linux distribution for the x86-64 architecture targeted at experienced Linux users). CruxEX 3.0 2014 uses the LXDE Desktop environment. I have replaced the original CRUX kernel 3.6.11 with “my” special kernel 3.12.6-x86_64-exton, with support for “extra everything”.

Installed arch linux on an i686. Installed linux many a time, but this is a new experience using arch as an os on a desktop. One thing That was different was to use the secure shell to remotely connect to the install machine. That way I could cut and paste commands as needed and save a lot of typing. There were some issues, that really were not issues. Had to use a search engine to rectify things I did not understand. Allegedly the live cd makes it easy to install. Used preprepared scripts to install arch on a pogoplug. Arch is sort of becoming addictive. Learned about BUILDPKG and that is exciting for the posobilities. One program, I had to dl the source and compile. That made my day. Setup the seb server and some other goodies.

Still have some old pentium II's. An Arch install on one of them would be interesting.
