Suffered a major disaster late last night. Completely ****ed up my Slack64. Should have run this before I started:

The trouble began when I read another member's posts about Gnome SlackBuild. I'm not keen on Gnome, but I was in the mood for experimenting, so I gave it a try. Everything installed and worked OK. Ken (Helios) posted this piece about the perception and awareness of GNU/Linux. To me, it highlights two groups of people who need to be reached. One group isn't even aware of an alternative to Linux. Well, if you were one of those people, if you've got as far as reading this then I guess you are now aware...

The other group are aware of Linux but believe it to be too hard... Perhaps they have had a bit of Microsoft poison dripped in their ear. Well, I don't believe it is too...

Connecting your computer to a stereo system

My computer has output jacks for only the TRS standard audio plug. My 20 year old amplifier only has input jacks for the RCA red and white plugs ( same as the the red and white of the red,white,yellow combo for televisions).

Without going to the shops and buying a new adapter cord or device, I reminded myself both rely on the exact same technology. Upon splitting the cords, this was confirmed.
