Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I've been trying to use the available WP programs, in my work as a professional editor. They don't work. They don't hold formats and even change fonts and font sizes, just from opening a Word document and then saving it again... didn't change anything, but it changed anyhow. I have tried OpenOffice.org (latest version, and yes, I have an official and "stable" copy), AbiWord, and a few others. I can't find an old copy of WordPerfect for Linux, but in the last version it would not edit...
Well, I may as well say a few things about myself, I guess.
1. I've been using Linux for about 8 years now, unless I'm remembering entirely wrong (and this is possible, as my concept of time is terrible). I don't know how, but I haven't even touched a computer with Windows on it in almost 4 years. Working at Lowe's a couple of years helped with that (they use Linux on every terminal).
2. My favorite distribution is Arch, and I love KDEmod....
