Dead Mint

Linux Mint 8 just stopped working - it's toast, tot, won't even boot. It gets to the logo screen, which turns black, and then times out. The drive is OK.

Name based Web server in ubuntu 9.10 server

Name based webserver.

We can configre webserver using apache in linux.This webserver is of two types one is name based and the other one is ipbased.

In name based webserver we can have more number of web pages for single ip address.Where as, in ip based we can have only one webpage for one ip address.

But people prefer namebased webserver as it reduces the cost of puchasing extra ipaddresses from their ISP.

Happy Mothers' Day

I haven't seen my mother in a long time. She's an immigrant that still doesn't have her citizenship yet. God knows how long it will be before she won't be needing that ugly pink "green card" she has in her wallet. Even though she's not pure Spanish- and not Mexican Spanish- she did wish me Cinco de Mayo- and sent me an e-card.
Mental problems run in every generation of her family and a few of us- me, my brothers and sisters- have them also. I can't hate her for this, it wouldn't...

Endurance

I live on the Chesapeake Peninsula about 1 mile from the Chesapeake bay.
My goal is to make to the Atlantic Ocean at Ocean City, Maryland and back in a day.
I know that I can go sixty miles in five hours. Using this and the amount I tire plus water loss and energy requirements I probably will hit a "wall" at seventy-five to eighty miles. My current best travel rates are twenty miles in eighty minutes and twenty-five miles in one hundred minutes.

Lost in KDE

I am a Slackware current user. I prefer XFCE, but whenever there is a KDE update I visit KDE. Normally, thanks to the nature of glitches I run over, I do not stay long; this time I just looked at where the notification icons appear.

That is called System Tray, but in order to verify the name I had to go to Add Widgets in Panel Options. That displays a band with widgets and scrolling buttons on each end of it. If I move the mouse directly to the triangle in a scrolling button, it is...
