Genome Analysis Pipeline

Posted 08-07-2008 at 04:50 AM by donax

I started searching for some information regarding compilation of a genetics analysis program, source GAPipeline-0.3.0.tar.gz

The source is specific for a sequencing machine called Solexa.

I will try to keep information about using and working with the system side of the Solexa software on this weblog besides our internal site.

Regards
Donald Axel

Distro hopping with dissapointment. Is the perfect distro out there?

Posted 08-06-2008 at 12:44 PM by txos

I have recently been distro hopping to find the perfect balance of Linux for me. The computer that In the past I used a 450 megahertz P3 processor with 512 megs of ram running CentOS 4.5. I ran that for about a year and a half with no complaints. It seemed fast and rock solid. I will admit I set it up as a samba, ssh and web server so I was not asking a lot of it. I have since then aquired a slightly beefier 1 gig Athlon system with more ram. When I first got it I installed CentOS 5.1 on it...

Debian Xfce live CD dissapointing

Posted 08-06-2008 at 11:27 AM by richag77

I've recently received a Debian xfce live CD and it is the most trimmed down live CD that I have ever seen. In fact it almost has nothing on it(Just a file manager and some utilities and a browser that doesn't open). Download all the apps you want, you say. That would be the way to go if I could find the icon or menu item to click on to do the install. Is this just a way of distributing rather expensive drink coasters or is there some special way that is a guarded secret of how to install this OS?...
