Genisoimage - Creates ISO-9660 CD-ROM filesystem images

genisoimage is a pre-mastering program for creating ISO-9660 CD-ROM filesystem images, which can then be written to CD or DVD media using the wodim program. genisoimage includes support for making bootable “El Torito” CDs, as well as CDs with support for the Macintosh HFS filesystem.

I'm writing a virtual machine in C. This is mainly to teach myself more about how computers work, but maybe of interest to other people. I was inspired by listening to Steve Gibson on the security now podcast talk about the PDP-8. He is planning to write his own complete operating system for this early computer as a fun project.

The PDP-8's instruction set sounds a bit too restrictive to me, so I have tried to come up with a minimum level of complexity that would allow me to write...

I guess it's now official: I'm an ex-Gentoo user.

I have Ubuntu on my notebook and most people I brought over into the fold I set up with a *buntu as well. I don't care for KDE or Gnome myself, and in Gentoo on my desktop I had Xfce running.

Last Saturday pushed me over the edge.

There was a major upgrade. I had been out of town for half a week so I had skipped one of my two update sessions when I tackled this one. It included recompiling gcc and installing...
