To start, NAT is by far the easiest way to get your guests connected to the interweb, but you may want to use the guests as servers. For this you need Host Networking. To configure Host Networking you need to configure network bridging, you basically

Howto set up a Wireless Bridge in Debian

Posted 12-17-2008 at 02:34 PM by sridhar11

A wireless router is great when toting a computer with a wireless interface around, but moving a wired computer to another room or floor often means stringing an unsightly Ethernet cable through the house. Inspiron Mini 9 is in the he-ouse.

Posted 12-17-2008 at 10:31 AM by PresGas (President Gas is President Gas again.)

Okay, so I got the machine in late yesterday and this morn, I immediately put in Xubuntu 8.10 alternative cd so that I could get the encrypted private directory without much hassle. Mostly I write down these ideas on my PC at home in hope that one day I'll have time to implement them.
Unfortunately I don't, so the ideas are gathering dust.
Some of the ideas are general concepts that are not related to specific application or even OS.
Some I even doubt can be implemented at all.
I've decided that I'll post some or all of them here in hope that someone will like...

Virtual Machines and Ubuntu 8.10

Posted 12-17-2008 at 07:29 AM by proji

So over the weekend I finally got round to installing Ubuntu 8.10 into a virtual machine environment using Parallels Desktop (which I maintain is a great piece of software).

My initial impressions of Ubuntu 8.10 were not that different to my impressions of using Ubuntu 7 in so much as it looks pretty similar. I can't say I've ever been a fan of Ubuntu's default brown look. The system itself always shows great promise, but the default theme feels a little drab.
