Nokia N900

Posted 04-13-2011 at 05:58 AM by rich_c

For anyone who wants a really capable Linux based phone, I'm back to recommending the N900. I know, there's the whole Elop episode but...

The Maemo community now have the Community SSU. In my view, that more than makes up for all the corporate politics & Microsoft BS! The N900 is back to being arguably the best uber-geek phone you can get!

Disk Utility (Gnome Disk Utility) (palimpsest)

Posted 04-13-2011 at 03:44 AM by spazticclown

palimpsest or Gnome Disk Utility
This utility is great, it can not only check SMART status on your local disk but connect up to a server and check status there.
File -> Connect to server...
Enter the server address and password, your remote drives will be lined up down the left side and you can view SMART status, easy.

The second benefit is the the green circle for SMART status ok, this helps my tired eyes from scanning the console print out from smartctl.

This Site is Great :)

I've been linked to this site many times is the past but I have just recently signed up as a member. Its a great place to learn. Not having any personal, "conventional" friends that are into Linux, this is a great place to ask questions and pick brains.

Thanks to all the knowledgeable people who spend some of their time asking/answering questions.

there is a change

Posted 04-11-2011 at 07:30 PM by megasaputra

actually i want to ask to this forum about which libav i have to download in http://packman.links2linux.org/. but when i browse http://opensuse-guide.org/codecs.php, i don't continue to ask to this forum. because there is no libav word in the website for codec packages. libav word is removed and is changed with ffmpeg.
