That was the argument used by my grandfather when I told him to reboot...into Archlinux if he wanted to work efficiently. "What doesn't Linux have?" was my natural response. "Linux doesn't have my documents, Linux doesn't have the software for my Kodak digital camera, and for my pulse monitoring device" I admit I had to concede the last point. Try explaining the difference between storing/accessing data and running a program : in both cases its just a click on an icon. So Linux...

Linux to Windows File transfer

Hello guys,

I'n new to the linux world. I have a question. what is the easiest most reliable way to send files from Centos (red hat) to a windows server/pc. Or better yet, the procedure of transfering files from linux to Windows. ex. FTP? Telnet, etc. Ive been told I need to have Samba running on the Linux server.

is there a gui availabe for linux? or just command line procedures?

I have a Kerio mailserver in the linux environment thats a part...

I have tinkered with Linux on and off for many years. I have to confess that I was one of those who would start an installation (and sometimes succeed) only to blow it off and install Windows. I was easily frustrated.

My company made a concerted effort to go 100% Windows just as Windows 2003 was about to go RTM so with help from a consultant we build and deployed our first forest. Shortly after that we discovered that there were legacy UNIX apps that would not port over. Hot on the...

Tired of MS-Windows and IE

I am SO glad to have a Linux PC up and running again! I recently bought a PC in an auction and installed Debian 5 on it and love it! It is fast, stable and efficient UNLIKE MS Windows and IE. I am growing sick of how slow IE can be, especially after it has been loaded up and running awhile.
