Saving money the "techie" way

The economy has been screwy for some time now, and even at work we're starting to see the effects of economic downturn. Granted, I'm not trying to purchase a $42,000 server with my *own* finances, but even so I've felt the effects of the struggle both at home and work. So my wife and I discussed some ways to save money, and we realized that our entertainment budget had quite a bit of fat.

My first (real) experimentation with SDL

It's been a while since I've done any serious programming (if little demo/learning programs can be considered serious ), but I finally got around to doing some little SDL apps.

The code here is basically for learning purposes; it's not like I'm keeping hold of it with an iron grip…IOW, go ahead and use parts of it (or the whole of it) to learn from/use in your own programs/whatever. It's not like there's much here anyway.

What are the best open source apps? If you agree, that the list should start with Firefox, Thunderbird, and Open Office, read on. Are they good enough to convince everybody that FOSS is the way to go?

NO.

Firefox - it FREEZES. It seldom freezes to a process rill, but tabs stop to respond, URL and Search boxes refuse to receive a cursor, things like that. This freezes more often when I go to and from full screen video.

Thunderbird - it has filters OK,...

download opensuse edulife

i begin to download linux education. yesterday, i downloaded opensuse edulife. now, i want to install it. i hope, there is no problem installing it. evidently, opensuse edulife is not bigger than opensuse 11.4. it is round about 2 gb. i guess, the file is round about the same with 11.4.
