Posted 07-15-2009 at 04:40 PM by sridhar11

Back In Time is a simple backup tool for Linux inspired from “flyback project” and “TimeVault”.The backup is done by taking snapshots of a specified set of directories.Keep in mind that Back In Time is just a GUI. The real magic is done by rsync (take snapshots and restore), diff (check if somethind changed) and cp (make hardlinks).

Back In Time acts as a “user mode” backup system. This means that you can backup/restore only folders you have write access to (actually you can backup...

Slackware has a wonderful little script, xwmconfig, that lets a user set his choice of window manager to start with the...

Since I installed Ubuntu 9.04, I haven't tested my firewall at "Shields Up".You have probably heard about it or even used it! If not, it's quite simple to use. Just go to the above link, let the page load. It will tell you who your isp is. just go down the page a little, you will see a "proceed" button. Click it! Another page loads with some info etc, and you will notice a row of grey buttons. The middle button is what we are looking for, it says "All Service Ports"....
