Posted 11-03-2009 at 11:01 AM by itbod

Uh Oh my ugrade manager says a new version of ubuntu is ready to download and install! I panic at this as the last time I upgraded to 9.04 I enounted so many problems I ended up installing from scratch losing all my data.

If there was an easy way to backup the entire system it would be brilliant. By the way, i used to run 8.10 which ran perfectly 9.04 crashes frequently, screen goes blank and will not recover causing me to do a hard re-boot which of course corrupts data. I asked...

I've been interested in Linux since 2004 with Suse 9.0 (actually paid for it at Best Buy). Tried Mandrake LE2005, various Mandriva's, openSUSE up to 11.1, but have been with Ubuntu seriously since Dapper. Have tried KDE's in various distros but I have been using Gnome since Heron.

So, instead of typing `program-name --argument' to run your program as a normal user, you'd type `sudo program-name --argument' to run your program as the root user, and then everything should be dandy.

As I wrote ,I use Ubuntu 9.04 ,
I tried the command :
