Lirc & xbmc time

Posted 09-21-2011 at 12:34 PM by serafean
Tags htpc, imon, lirc, xbmc

The Enna media center project stagnating, and the KDE Plasma Media center being developed in GSoC bursts, I got back to using xbmc. xbmc supports lirc, and having an imon panel with a remote, I finally decided to set it up.

The key here was understanding that the iMon device is now supported in the kernel using the new infrastructure. What this did is make the iMon device send normal input events. (I think this is mostly because it does the IR decoding directly in hardware). What...

Linux compatible hardware.

Posted 09-21-2011 at 06:53 AM by rich_c

So, I've been shopping online for a mouse for my new netbook. I settled on a Logitech M125. While looking at the specifications, I noticed that it specifically states that the mouse is compatible with Linux 2.6 kernels and better. Same info on the manufacturer's site. Well, it's not often you see that!

Opera Middle-Click Functionality

Posted 09-20-2011 at 03:56 PM by Snark1994

Just a handy hint to fix something which has bugged me for ages - if you middle click in Opera under Arch linux (and probably other distros), rather than scrolling, it tries to paste text and seems to end up searching for whatever's in your clipboard.

Luckily, this can be changed. Strangely, it's completely non-obvious.

Shift+Middle Click brings up a dialog which allows you to change your middle-click settings.

Test on prefix

Posted 09-19-2011 at 02:07 PM by ButterflyMelissa

Restart!

Partitioning, and formatting. Setting up an /etc/fstab and /etc/resovl.conf.
As a test, I downloaded lynx, and did

Quote:
./configure --prefix=$DST
where DST is the destination: /dev/sda3...

And...the install went straight to the right place: the hard drive instead of the ramdisk.

The first step is made.

Nokia-M$ Strategic Alliance

Posted 09-19-2011 at 11:29 AM by archtoad6
Updated 09-19-2011 at 11:33 AM by archtoad6 (finally post)

Edit 2011-09-19:
This was written shortly after the 1 Febuary 2011 press release; but got left, unfinished, in "drafts".
Although I don't remember what else I was going to say, I am posting it now.
Needless to say, it deserves some updating about the last 9 months developments.
