mounting remote directory through ssh

The sshfs package can be used to fuse mount remote directories.

For example, a remote apt-get archive could be mounted as a rough way of sharing the package cache:
Code:
sshfs server:/var/cache/apt/archives /var/cache/apt/archives
And then unmounted later:
Code:
fusermount -u /var/cache/apt/archives
This method can be automated by setting up an entry in /etc/fstab (this works best if the ssh login is done through a PKI...

How to install Adobe Flash Player for Red Hat Linux

Being a Linux newbym, seems to take me 3 times as long to install stuff on Linux than it did on Windows --arghhh.
I needed to install a new version of Flash Player today as one of my work applications needed version flash-plugin-11.0.1.152-release.x86_64.rpm or higher.
I went to the Adobe site and downloaded the package, but could not find instructions how to do that.
Using my limited knowledge and some info from forums, I downloaded it in the Flash Player folder and tryed...

HOWTO: Change umask, permissions, ownership etc. of a folder using bindfs

I find myself coming back to a situation where I want to be able to control who files should be created as (user or group) and which permissions the files should have in a specific folder.

For example I have a linux server with a shared music directory for people in the household that is shared using samba and depending on whether how clients connect the files/folders they create get a bunch of different permissions, groups etc.. Getting tired of configuring of trying to configure...
