Rethinking the name of distribution.

After picking the name Devil Free BSD I thought about the name some more.

In reflection, I realized that the name I chose was actually ambiguous.

Sure, my inent was to convey that my prayers caused the source code to be devil free; however, I soon realized that the name could be interpreted as the Devil's own brand of BSD.

There are many ways to approach solving this problem. One of the great things about Unix is that it is very flexible.

Whooopeeeeeeeee!!! Ten minutes ago the postman delivered the long-awaited parcel. Now I'm going to be as patient installing it, as I have been waiting for it to arrive. Going to read all the instructions here, and here carefully, before I do anything else.

The Linux Penguin: Apple Eater, Glass Breaker

Posted 09-01-2010 at 08:08 PM by Kenny_Strawn (Kenny the one-teen comittee to stamp out Proprietary $uckware)

What I've noticed about the logos for proprietary operating systems is that they're all inanimate objects, while the logo for Linux is a live animal -- one that can easily tear an apple apart and peck at Aero Glass until it breaks.

I did post a thread on PCW Forums about this but decided to take it here as it sure would get more respect on LQ, which is Linux-centric, than on a forum where there is so much M$ FUD that it makes no difference.

Again: An apple is an inanimate...
