Some Observations Regarding NSA Surveillance

Some things to keep in mind regarding the mass hoovering of data communications a la Room 641A:

Communication lines transport packets of data, each of which contains metadata (including identifiers for the origin of the packet and its destination) and data (voice, video, internet traffic, etc). Collection software would inspect each packet and append entries to its own data store, including at least the source, destination, and time the packet was inspected (and possibly additional...

Caveat emptor

Posted 10-26-2013 at 09:10 AM by peonuser

I am not a Hacker. but I do repair things to my advantage.

Pulled an old PC out of the closet to check it out. Machine came up but magic smoke came out of the PS. pulled the power cord. Looked at the PS and it seemed to have been opened. Should of not been put back in the PC. Replaced PS and machine came up fine again. (PC stands for personal computer a an not just an mswindows computer).

Having fun playing with temperature sensors. Using the lm35 on the arduino and...

A new version of DebEX Barebone 64bit based on Debian Jessie/Sid is ready!

Posted 10-24-2013 at 03:57 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)

NEWS 131024
I’ve replaced Fluxbox with LXDE and added the applications GParted (partition editor), AbiWord, Icedove (Thunderbird) and AlsaPlayer. The biggest improvement in version 131024 is that Debian Installer and Debian Live Installer now work flawlessly.

Posted 10-24-2013 at 02:49 AM by Yury_T

Folks have not-so-positive experience with the LibO/OOO default bibliography database, what with it being effectively either of HSQLDB or CSV text type, for one. One would want to have more choice as to the database type, and to have it storaged more effectively, and in single file, preferrably. Also, there are many popular tools for other database engines, and HSQLDB seems somewhat isolated in this aspect, restricted to all-Java projects, too.

E.g., you might want to have two sets...

Extending my Raspberry Pi server cluster

Posted 10-23-2013 at 12:36 PM by Pyplate

I've added another 4 nodes to my Raspberry Pi server cluster. I posted links to my site on Reddit and some other social networking sites. I'm hoping to get a large hit of traffic so that I can see how my server performs.

In the past my server has handled 2800 visits in one day. I'm hoping to break that record soon, and hopefully without my server slowing down too much.
