Installing UT2004 and running native on Linux is pretty straight forward. You will need wine to run the GOG installer though. I accomplished this on Slackware64 multilib without any issues.

You need -
UT2004 from GOG - of course
UT2004 latest patch.

Debian & Fglrx

Posted 11-05-2010 at 08:42 PM by William (Dthdealer) (Whaling the FOSS)

I've decided to change from Ubuntu to Debian Testing again, after a bad encounter with the Ubuntu updater. Long story short, I did not know it was going to take 4+ hours to update from 10.04 to 10.10, and when I was informed, I just killed the system power in disgust.

Anyway, as with every system I've had on this laptop ( an Acer Aspire 5536 ) I've discovered why I will never buy ATI/AMD graphics hardware again. You have two driver options - xserver-radeon and fglrx.

Do not know whether I am helping or defeating the linux cause. But I am blushing from my alter ego name being mentioned again on the most recent Revision3/Tekzilla podcast.

Yea, the l293d's came in. Have to now follow God's hacker commandment of "Thall shalt solder".

  1. Get your security update notice via e-mail and then read the changelog. (Reading the changelog is a great idea because not all Slackware updates are security updates).
  2. Download the relevant packages from the /patches directory of your Slackware version's mirror (e.g.

Home router upgrade #2 - NetGear WNR3500L

Posted 11-05-2010 at 09:33 AM by Web31337 (In The Middle Of Nowhere [edK's blog])

Yesterday I bought this cute tiny box for my home net. My previous routers were 2 PCs, first one I used since aug 2009 was P1 200mhz, 64mb ram, recent one is old celeron 2.4 ghz, 1g ram which is much more unstable than P1
These ones were using way too much power and make an excessive levels of noise, so I finally decided to trash this stuff and get myself a small box

Initially I was looking for a cheapest router supporting wifi(I have a laptop and I'm already sick of...
