HOWTO: LAMP server on Slackware

Posted 01-20-2011 at 11:01 AM by lumak (Lumak's Guide to Random Things)

This is a short HOWTO in getting a basic LAMP server running on Slackware. You will have to do more reading if you really want to know the details about configuring everything. I call this 'ready to confirm you want the defaults.' Please send me a message if you think I missed something.

set the execute bit on /etc/rc.d/rc.httpd
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.httpd

The old market share chestnut.

Posted 01-20-2011 at 04:32 AM by rich_c

I'm sure we've all seen a discussion about malware where the old argument of "There's no Linux malware because Linux market share is tiny. No point in writing malware for it..." Well, it just dawned on me that's a bigger crock even than it used to be. Why? Android! OK,so Android isn't a desktop OS. None the less, it's close enough! gloves for my feet!!

shoes) the recommended one day break for novices.

Lint, aka Linux Mint, is most certainly NOT the distro of the year.

Apples Steve Jobs is a cancer survivor, like me, and he's a genius, and I'm not. But I can readily sympathize with his decision to retreat from the job he has. My own situation with cancer and the treatment I went through were similar, I ran a small
painting business, and knew I had to completely let it go. My treatment was extensive and time consuming, and because I had good people working for me I sold the business
to keep it going. Fortunately a competitor bought it and saved some...
