I always tend to learn my lessons the hard way!

:sigh:

Latest lesson learnt:
A stitch in time saves nine.

Background story:
A year back a part of my grinding tooth broke off! I took it
lightly and kept on ignoring it for many months. Slowly the part of
the tooth, now exposed, developed cavity! I didn't feel any pain
(probably because the cavity was in its early stage) and therefore

Using SQLite on a Raspberry Pi

Posted 09-06-2013 at 07:54 AM by Pyplate

I've written an article on my site about using SQLite on a Raspberry Pi. I've only covered the bare essentials, but it's enough to get started.

I've used examples based on a database that could be used to log temperatures. I've already covered the use of a DS18B20 sensor, so I may as well build a temperature logging system.

runc update Sept 27, 2013

http://rainbowsally.net/rainbowsally...-rs-1.2.tar.gz

Changes slist_count() to standard objlist syntax and removes slist_getCount()
Removes destructor functions from objlist so that each class explicitly free anything memory they allocate.
Added atexit() function to tmpmem/tmpstr functions.
Most of these changes address memory leaks and/or memory that remains accessible after the apps close.

Gnome 2/MATE leave message

Posted 09-04-2013 at 10:18 AM by drask

I've been using the MATE screensaver instead of xscreensaver just because when you lock your screen someone can leave you a message. However, I was having a problem where if I actually try leaving myself a message, it never showed up. I got the answer for this from the following wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...me-screensaver

Basically, you must install the "notification-daemon" package. Then if someone leaves you a...
