If you are like me, new to linux (October 2010) and have had the multiple headaches getting wireless up and running in Linux, have I got a gem for you. After trying multiple USB wifi receivers and failing to get them up and running I was recently introduced by a fellow penguin to the Alfa 1000mW 1W 802.11b/g USB Wireless WiFi Network Adapter
I'm certain that just about every distro out right now has the driver for this thing built in. (rtl8187)

Hi all, this is my first entry to this blog. I have been member of LQ for a while, I referred to this whenever I had a doubt regarding , of course, Linux installed in my system. To all the newbies here, if you were windows guy and planned to switch onto Linux( no matter what distro) then I'd prefer having a dual boot in your system. First Post - Doom 3 & Debian

I got pretty wound up recently, trying to get Doom 3 working. I've recently bought a new Dell with a 4-core Phenom 830, 4 gig RAM,1 Gb ATI 5450 Video. I'm very pleased with it(I could only afford it 'cos it was on tick). After trying all the other mainstream distros I've settled with Debian - testing usually. apt alone is enough, but also I love many other things about Debian - their ethical stance for one. So I've installed Wheezy for AMD64 - it goes like a rocket.

I just got done writing one of those "everything is predetermined/life is meaningless" posts...why isn't it up here, then? Because I know that nobody who even visits the LQ blog section regularly wants to see it anymore. I save them locally to my hard disk, though, just for some kind of weird posterity.

I guess the point is taken: if I want help with those issues, I'm gonna need to seek it from someplace other than the ''s just that I've become way too...
