Linux Notes

Posted 06-15-2010 at 06:11 PM by ubikuberalles

I've decided to use this blog for on-line Linux notes.

I forget things. Details mostly. Like what command to type when I want to set up an encrypted partition and so on. So I write it down on a notebook. That notebook has been very useful to me over the years and I keep it up to date when I can.

It occurred to me today that perhaps I should have have an on-line version of that notebook. It would certainly help me out when I'm away from my desk and forget my paper notebook...

What is the actual reason Linux is not widely accepted by more people?

Posted 06-15-2010 at 06:00 PM by daltroll

Is it the power of Microsoft's billions ? Is it due to end user laziness when it comes to upkeep of your distro of choice ? Fear of the Terminal and commands ? Weigh in and let me know your thoughts on this.

Posted 06-15-2010 at 05:59 PM by livingearth

First of all I would like to thank the good people at LinuxQuestions.org for providing this blog interface for all of us forum members to use. That being done I would like to say a bit about myself and my background. My name is Steve. I have been in the web business for about 10 years now. As a web designer and graphics artist I offer web hosting services to my clients on a LAMP environment. LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP. I choose this platform because it is efficient and easy to use...

Running around in circles!

Got a lot of maybe-one-day useful CAD Programs, with all the hassle involved, just to find out that Art of Illusion can export to CAD, courtesy of RepRap...

http://reprap.org/wiki/AoI

DUUUUUHHHH!

Remember, you have to start AOI as Root, to install the Plugins necessary, on Ubuntu Lucid, so it's command line time:
# sudo su
# cd /usr/local/ArtOfIllusion
# sh aoi.sh
