Streamlining the process of uploading

Today I had to zip up about 50 folders and upload them to a software directory for my work. That's a huge hassle and they didn't need to be in any particular order. The names of the zip files had to be the same name as the folder so that made my life easier. I zipped them all, moved them into a filestoupload folder and then uploaded them.

A process which would have taken 10-20 minutes on a Windows machine took less than a minute of my precious time on my Linux box. For most of...

Samba : New windows clients cant join samba domain

Posted 08-17-2010 at 12:18 PM by lyschange

Hi all , weve been running samba for a while and everything was fine. All of a sudden when you add new clients to the domain you get the error message :Logon Failure:unknown user name or bad password. This to me seems like a windows error message and not a samba error. When you remove an existing machine (ie on domain) and then try to rejoin it to the domain you fail.

Please help any assistance will be appreciated

Not keen on the XP, after all I've got XP Pro on my laptop, so that may have to go sooner or later. UNE is OK, so far. We shall...

The ideal FOSS (and copyleft) license: That which is based on patent law

Posted 08-16-2010 at 10:07 AM by Kenny_Strawn (Kenny the one-teen comittee to stamp out Proprietary $uckware)
Updated 11-24-2010 at 06:15 AM by Kenny_Strawn

I know the GPL is really a very good license that acts as a shield over FOSS, protecting it from exploitation by corporations that want to lock in the changes to code.

But it's not good enough: Companies like MiKKKroSSoft still like to rip off FOSS with similar programs that have the same functionality but are proprietary and locked down. And then they use software patents to lock their own original software to themselves.

That's where this license comes in: I was thinking...
