LibreOffice back at RC1

Posted 12-09-2010 at 09:55 AM by lumak (Lumak's Guide to Random Things)

Haha... well that was exciting to see them create the document foundation and start a new port then immediately create a release candidate 1, then soon after create a RC2 that was some how worse than RC1, then drop the RC completely and go back to beta.

I assume this was because of the 'Go' open office portions they were adding among other things. Ya know... RCs are for bug fixes only, not feature additions.

Honestly, LibreOffice 3.3.0 should have been a direct copy...

Started a new contract job, so I have not had the time to tinker as I have wanted to. At least they feed us for free. The way to a developer's weak points.

Saw an article where someone had interfaced an old isa sound card to the parallel port. That had me thinking about using micro-controllers with the old isa stuff. The permissions are strong in this one...

Something to warm the hearts of fellow crawlers living at the prompt:

$ rm carebear.cute
rm: cannot remove `carebear.cute': Permission denied
$ choke -f carebear.cute

The year 'of the desktop' ( insert opensarcasmmark here ) is nearly over. Hope to see where unity and the gnome shell are taking us.

I've had a long session of improving security on my home server yesterday.
I never actually made a permanent and correct monitoring with rkhunter, but when I ran through all it's options, I finally came to realize this is just awesome, it just OWNZ! Greets to developers team!!!
Some guys from LQ Security forum really are the experts. I always knew that, but just again, in case you read my blog, I'd like to thank you all, the members of "online security team" of LQ, you know...
