As a VERY new Linux user, 10/22/2010 (First install, duel boot with Win XP and Mandriva 2010.0 KDE) I have become absolutely fascinated by the Open Source Operating System. I am currently learning how to install multiple distros on an external hard drive when someone asked the question. “Why have multiple distros? Find one, install it and be done with it.”

Forget the 'cd' command !!!

Posted 12-15-2010 at 04:58 AM by thasuresh

$ shopt -s autocd

It's a Auto Directory changing command. We can change into any
directory without the use of 'cd' command.So we can utilize the time
of typing "cd" command.

thasu@tha-admin-da ~ $ shopt -s autocd
thasu@tha-admin-da ~ $ Desktop/
cd Desktop/
thasu@tha-admin-da ~/Desktop $ cd
thasu@tha-admin-da ~ $ /var/log/cups/
cd /var/log/cups/

Running openwrt on my router and hating advertisements, I decided to look into dnsmasq's possibilities. And indeed it supports hard binding of addresses to Domain names.

to dnsmasq.conf, and putting a file generated by in there (as ablock.conf) quite securely blocks all ads on my network (and from basic testing, it seems that even ads at the beginning of flash videos are filtered out. YAY!).

I know using /etc/hosts...
