i dont care if its "proprietary"

Posted 09-05-2010 at 04:18 AM by DevilFreeBSD

I can't program anyway. Most end users are "helpless and divided" even with source code. So, I say LET'S USE PROPRIETARY DRIVERS.

After a minor hitch with cfdisk, the installation went smoothly. I must have done everything right (unusual, that ), following the excellent instructions by Stuart Winter (drmozes on LQ) - thanks. My next task is to set up tightvnc, so I can get XFCE. But that will wait...I'm hungry. Here, for those who like pictures, is another screenshot:

Apparently "update-rc.d" does something essential

I thought all it did was to create symlinks with the proper prefixes in a automated way for a given script, something that one could do manually... but apparently it does something more.

But perhaps I just did something wrong when trying to do it manually, like using the wrong runlevel folders. Or perhaps it was just the difference from priority 20 to 19 that made the difference even though I thought the key was to be a higher priority (i.e., a lower number than) than 22.

Got my SheevaPlug up and running, using the instructions from the New IT forum. I'll tackle the ARMedslack installation to USB stick later...sometime.

Okay, so I've finally figured out that when I post in what could be called a "Newbie's" thread, that they don't seem to notice the URLs in my signature.

So I've gone from this;

--Did you find this post helpful? Don't forget to let me know by clicking yes or no! (Or click the "scales" icon under my name)
--Has a post solved your problem? Make sure to mark the thread as [SOLVED]!
--What do those little green boxes mean? It's the brand-spanking new
