Everybody dreads it. When you see it, it is difficult to know what to do. Luckily Unix provides utilities which allow us to traverse the filesystem and parse files quickly and effortlessly.

Here's a search command which will search all your log files for keywords such as shutdown, poweroff, and panic.

find /var/log/ -type f -print0 | xargs -0 grep -iH 'shutdown\|poweroff\|panic' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u

It's my destiny to manage a Windows Server 2008, which is not so strange since I'm in Spain, a country where Microsoft and Google are owned by their almost absolute lack of training and the fact of seeing information technology as an appliance.

The fact is that with this attitude the windows server is an appliance that crazy Spanish people, needless to say it is worse for Linux.

Now, as a webmaster I think this is an ignorant country in relation to new technologies...

Windows 7: Did you know it's actual version?

I was always wondering why don't I see any user-agent containing "Windows NT 7.0" or something on my sites.
Today, I've got a final answer
Occasionally, my friend brought home a laptop with windows 7. He was asked by his friend to configure it, install software, etc. I asked him to navigate to my website so I can view the user-agent from opera he just installed. It was "NT 6.1"! WTF? Really? me installed redhat linux 5 on windows xp machine.. but when it reeboot the linux launches firstly..but me needs windows on first base then linux is optional.. hhow can i?ple help

Another one of my bookshelves bit the dust from carrying two many out of date linux books. I moved most of the books to a bookshelf I had rebuilt. With another good bookshelf. I added one of the shelves from the fallen unit to add some of the mementos I have collected over the years. With a little rearranging and I seem to have more room than before. Weird.
