Creating a problem and then partially solving it makes people believe competitors have the problem

Posted 10-05-2010 at 07:40 PM by William (Dthdealer) (Whaling the FOSS)

I asked the staff of one of my local primary schools why they were installing new computers and throwing out the old ( a few years ) ones. It confuses me when their previous units are perfectly fine for the educational needs of primary school students, but yet they decide they need new ones. I was given a few answers:

  • The old ones were getting slower
  • Microsoft offered them an educational discount

Asp ichy...

Posted 10-04-2010 at 12:37 AM by peonuser

My brother wants to have a linux server that supports asp and ajax. Tried to talk him out of it. Never built one that supports mono. Will at least go through the exercise. I own both msos, vb and vb.net, so should not have to worry about patent issues.

Goodbye Comcrap

Posted 10-03-2010 at 04:31 AM by peonuser

Tired of hearing the lies from Comcast. They have yet to pay for down time they owe me. They did not honor the reduced price they promised me. The FCC and Congress will hear from me.

The fun part I have to rewire the mancave. it is only time.

Loving the new Ubuntu Font

Posted 10-01-2010 at 02:21 AM by Kenny_Strawn (Kenny the one-teen comittee to stamp out Proprietary $uckware)

The new Ubuntu Font is here; just came in a clean installation of 10.10 RC (had to clean-install, as the SSD filled up when installing updates). It is extremely amazing; well, look for yourself:

If you look closely in this screenshot, you'll find out that the font actually is smaller and goes along better with the new Ubuntu branding.

Upgrades are so much fun.

Well the php was screwed up on my server, but I was able to unload and reload it. All seemed fine. Had to update some of the code on the pages I wrote though. command line is so much fun especially when you have to do it remotely.
