Installing a second harddrive (Using VM ware)

Installing a second drive in debian is a pain. I'm using VM ware and I clicked "add" in that vmware menu to add a new 10gb hardrive (I dind't go for independant, but maybe i should have tried that).

Notes (aka, waste of keystrokes): I'd like to start out by saying that, as a windows user, I don't exactly feel all that good using linux in both GUI mode and over SSH. It feels like I lose my precise control of the linux environment when this happens. Ha, this information has been sitting on my desktop for a while. Needless to say, it's grown beyond more than just 7 commands, but I like the title too much to change it. Book mark and feel free to leave comments with commands you'd like referenced here also.
