I asked my Dad (who recommended the book) where Keeney got the ideas in the book, and he said "it's very different from our Western thinking, isn't it? A lot of it parallels Eastern Religion, particularly Taoism". That launched me on a series of questions regarding religion, human behavior, beliefs, cognizance, etc... that landed squarely on understanding philosophy...because afterall, you don't ask your next door...

Posted 09-02-2014 at 05:05 AM by Pyplate

I've modified the Pyplate CMS to use MySQL instead of SQLite, and some rough tests show that there's a significant improvement performance if the database is on a separate server than the web server. I haven't released this code yet, there's some more testing to do, and I need to make some changes to the install script.

I'm also working on setting up MySQL replication so that I can use a cluster of database servers with a cluster of web servers.

A few weeks ago I did a routine software update using the Update Manager. The update was to move to Chromium 36 from 34 (there was no version 35 under Ubuntu). Suddenly, Chromium would no longer run, or even start on this machine, though Chromium 36 is working OK on two other newer Ubuntu machines. When executed from the command...
