get rid of GNOME 3 recent items ......

when u press windows key and search for anything.......some recently used items too pop up and they may sometime really risk the privacy.....
all you have to do is just delete this file--->
and then restarting computer(or ALT+F2+r+ENTER) removes recent items but they are again help you again
could have been much simpler...

fedora 15 gnome bluetooth issue solved

this bluetooth bug in fedora 15 GNOME 3 troubles in bluetooth file tranfer.
u can't actually turn the visibility ON and hence none of the devices can see your system to transfer a file via bluetooth.
you just have to run these commands to sort out the problem....
systemctl status bluetooth.service
sudo systemctl enable bluetooth.service
sudo systemctl start bluetooth.service

Mozilla-Firefox 5 Hardening

The current version of Firefox for Slackware 13.37 is mozilla-firefox-5.0 from the patches directory. Always use the latest version to get the latest security updates. Also, having a HOSTS file will block banners, ads, 3rd party cookies, hijackers and webbugs. The tutorial for the HOSTS file is listed separately.


If you want to play Flash content, compile and install flash-player-plugin...

Going to take an nte931 (7805?) if I can find one to use is as part of a dc-dc ps for my Chumby. Then the Chumby will be truly portable.


The avi files on my camera are way to large. might use the following to squish them down into ogv format. Did this once before and it took an over 200 meg file and compressed it to under 6 megs.

Step 1, convert AVI to MPEG file :
Open a terminal and type this command line :
ffmpeg -i theoriginalfile.avi...

Hevithan commented on my Roku blog post yesterday, so while I was responding I'd realized that in the original post I hadn't even mentioned one of the coolest features we use heavily on our Roku: Roksbox. Here's the "top level view":
