Load multiple soundcard drivers in order

I recently bought a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1vx to record music in full 24 bits per sample, and so now I have two soundcards - one PCI card and one built-in on the motherboard.

One issue that had been bugging me for a while - not that problematic, but an issue nonetheless - I have Fedora 14 - because modern distros search for and load modules in parallel to speed up the boot process, the result is that the order in which modules will be loaded becomes unpredictable. vmware tools in debian squeeze virtual machine

Actually this I found out from
I got file VMwareTools-8.1.4-227600.tar.gz of 97.1MB
extract & run installer as follows

cd vmwaretools-distrib
./vmware-install.pl
answer default by pressing enter

OpenSUSE 11.4 continued

Today I continued with a fresh 11.4 DVD 32bit of OpenSUSE. During installation I found the option to go with a LVM encrypted (i.e. LUKS+LVM) so I went with that after deleting all partitions on the machine. (I found out after install that it chose 256bit encryption. A little overboard for a netbook, but I don't mind so much.

So I got it installed, copied stuff back over from my backup external hard drive, and proceeded.

Then the NetworkManager icon disappeared (segfault...

Slacker installs OpenSUSE 11.4

So I figured I'd try OpenSUSE 11.4 on my netbook (Asus 900A) today, and write down my experience with it as I go.

First, when booting the installer, I noticed that during the configuration phase, when partitioning my hard drive, it picked some odd options (to me), like putting root and /home on extended partitions, etc. I thought to myself, no big deal, I'll custom partition with the root size it had decided (5GB). Well /dev/sda2 was already a LUKS but I told it I wanted to start...
