Notes: VI is a very slow thing to learn, but it's well worth taking the time learning it. It makes working on code, almost like a very fun logic game. It's also the fastest way to program in any language (well... faster than 'notepad' style text editors hands down anyway). The only reason everyone doesn't use VIM and EMACS is because the software really does take quite a while to get the hang of. HR webserver setup for deploying rails on my shared webhost

Executive Summary:
I. To install
a) Add the line [inline]gem 'thin'[/inline] to your Gemfile
b) And setup the restart script.

II. To start (must use your real port number)
Code:
 $  bundle exec thin start -e production -p 1**** -d
III. To stop
Code:
 $  bundle exec thin stop
IV. To restart

If you want to be, as the kids are saying "k-rad", you'll probably learn a thing or two about linux. But if you want to be "uber k-rad", you'll figure out how to use linux from the comfort of your favorite operating system (for most of us, that's windows).

Installing a second drive in debian is a pain. I'm using VM ware and I clicked "add" in that vmware menu to add a new 10gb hardrive (I dind't go for independant, but maybe i should have tried that).
