getting debian repository

Posted 05-16-2011 at 03:39 AM by sumeet inani
Updated 05-16-2011 at 03:40 AM by sumeet inani

I wanted an offline repository at home for my faithful
pentium3 , 1Ghz , 384MB RAM desktop .
So I ran
Code:
wget -b -A i386.deb,i386.udeb,dsc,gz,all.deb -r -a progress-log -mk -c ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/
Debian repository is 200GB including all 11 architectures it support .So we have to be specific.

I don't know whether 8 dvd iso from http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/.../i386/iso-dvd/ is repository or not ? otherwise...

An amusing little diversion.

Posted 05-15-2011 at 09:43 AM by rich_c

Here's a bit of fun you readers might like to join in with... It's a little quiet this afternoon, so I thought I'd kill 5 minutes with a little game I like to play from time to time. It's simple and provides me with a bit of perverse satisfaction. All you have to do is go to Bing and search for a few Linux related terms. Click on the result(s) you like the look of, as a Linux user.

I like to imagine that it fscks with someone at Microsoft's Bing usage stats...

Exporting Outlook calendar as .ical/ics

Hello

This falls into two steps: firstly exporting an Outlook calendar as .ical files and secondly turning those .ical files into a .ics file.

The technique was used with Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP (as part of a migration to Xfce's calendar, Orage). It probably works with other versions and OSes too.

Thanks and acknowledgements to BlueDevilFan who posted the original VBA macro at Experts Exchange where it is no longer visible (but may be...
