Configure NFS Server and Client Configuration on Ubuntu 14.04

Posted 08-08-2014 at 03:13 AM by sridhar11

NFS was developed at a time when we weren't able to share our drives like we are able to today -- in the Windows environment. It offers the ability to share the hard disk space of a big server with many smaller clients. Again, this is a client/server environment. Current good quality SSDs have built-in mechanisms to level the wear on the whole device so that their lives are maximised, but for something like Swap the inherent nature of that requirement will significantly ratchet up the number of Write cycles on any drive that hosts it, and that is still something I want to avoid on my SSD.

In reality it may not be a factor, but I'd rather spend a few dollars on more RAM to reduce

Thanks again for the blog lq.

I agree with the author on many points, namely that I identify with the angst that he alludes to, but more importantly...
