Run your Slackware installation with the latest stable kernel – 4.6.4!

I have compiled a very useful (as I think) 64 bit kernel for Slackware Current (14.2) and/or all Slackware derivatives. For example Slax, Zenwalk and SlackEX. The kernel is compiled exactly the same way as Slackware’s latest kernel huge. “My” kernel 4.6.4-x86_64-exton has even more support for new hardware, etc. Kernel 4.6.4 is the latest stable kernel available from Kernel.org. Released yesterday (20160711).

Moving back and around

That EeePC 1015PEM was just too laggy no matter what I put on it. I bought a friend a Lenovo X130e and it proved to be too small for her (vision issues), so I bought her a Dell Mobile Workstation 6300 and took the Lenovo in payment (she paid for it). I then put LinuxMint 18 Sarah MATE 64-bit on it, and it runs great.

I also have to move again. And, for the third time, I'm moving to Blaine, TN. Just sucks me back in. But the place I'm moving to isn't ready yet, requiring some patience...

IMPORTANT

Regardless of the following suggestion on how to preserve your current Home (/home) partition, it is ESSENTIAL to also make a BACKUP of all existing personal data, just in case anything goes wrong!
