OK I have been about tinkering with Pi's & Linux just been lazy about blogging and busy with work & family. One Pi Project I have been desperate to do is "Pi-Parrot-Cam" or a wireless streaming web cam to spy on the bird feeder, hardly ground breaking I know but hey its what I want to do .... looks like someone has beat my to it ... thanks for doing the hard work and I shall shamefully plagerise and report back.

With the help of linux forums and especially the pendrivelinux.com site (booting linux isos with grub2) I have been able to create a usb drive with over twenty utilities and linux distributions. Recently I was toying with fedora 17/18. Although I can boot fedora live isos 16/17/18 from a usb thumb drive, I have not been successful at setting up fedora so that it is persistent (i.e., keeping any changes made to the system like adding applications).

This process creates a custom bootable thumbdrive with the latest available Fedora 18 software. In addition, common repositories are preconfigured, and the list of software packages on the currently running system is used as the basis for the thumbdrive image.

As root, perform the following:

• Start by cleaning up problems on the system, reported by:

package-cleanup --orphans
