WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 140504?
1. ExLight is now based on Ubuntu 14.04 alias Trusty Tahr, 64 bit, released April 17, 2014).
2. I have upgraded the Desktop environment Enlightenment (Beauty at your fingertips) to version 0.19. Installed from source.
3. I have replaced kernel 3.13.0-9-exton with kernel 3.13.0-24-exton.
4. ExLight’s ISO file is now a ISO-hybrid, which means that it can very easily be transferred (copied) to a USB pen drive. You can then even run ExLight...

BeagleBSD?

Posted 04-29-2014 at 10:55 PM by rocket357 (Musings on technology, philosophy, and life in the corporate world)

I picked up a BeagleBone Black a few days ago and a microSD card.

I have been playing around with Angstrom (the default Linux install that comes with the BeagleBone) while waiting for my serial cable to arrive so I can install OpenBSD. I've decided that this gadget is going to go in my car. I have a few ideas for what I'd like to do with it, but primarily I think I'm going to attempt to wire up a cellular network + wifi to create a secure mobile hotspot.

Script to quickly set the wake-alarm power on

I think it's working. Issuing "set-alarm 6:00" will set the computer to automatically turn on the next day at 6am, or the same day, if the script was executed after midnight already.

Information about the whole thing, read before trying anything, no warranties/responsibilities whatsoever and all that, actually by having some trouble with the script you warrant ME the legal rights to sue YOU for a billion dollars and/or have you as my free butler for life:

Nagios check_disk works at local host but not via check_nrpe

Posted 04-25-2014 at 01:59 PM by MensaWater

We ran into something we've not seen here before.

We run a Nagios master server with Nagios Core 3.3.1.
We have nrpe version 2.12 on the servers being monitored (clients) and use check_nrpe v2.12 from the master to interrogate them.
The version of check_disk on the clients is v1.4.14 (nagios-plugins 1.4.14).

Typically we setup the nrpe.cfg on the clients to monitor each individual disk by its device name e.g.
command[check_opt_app_logs]=/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_disk...
